Fake pills have hit one Tennessee County especially hard and have law enforcement in neighboring areas concerned about their communities. In Grundy County there have been 8 overdoses in 10 days, three of those were fatal. The victims are all in their 30’s or younger. According to WZTV, Sheriff Clint Shrum said his department has confirmed the substance in fake Xanax and Roxicet pills is fentanyl, a deadly substance 25-50 times more potent than heroin. He also suspects fentanyl is being mixed with heroin and methamphetamine. Sheriff Shrum is reaching out to the community, asking people with information to come forward. He is also urging people who abuse drugs to get help before they make a fatal mistake.
