In a week that saw Cumberland County’s COVID-19 death toll rise to 3, neighboring Morgan County recorded its first death to the novel coronavirus and White County recorded its second death. Morgan County has 22 confirmed and probable cases with 18 recovered. White County has 51 cases with 35 recovered and 2 deceased. Since the outbreak began, Cumberland County Mayor Allen Foster has been in communication with the local and state Health Departments and reports that as of Thursday, June 18 Cumberland County has 26 active COVID-19 cases (up 1 from Wednesday); 138 positive cases (up 1) and 109 recovered (no change). Bledsoe County, which reports 1 death, has been holding relatively steady at 614 cases and 611 recovered. Rhea County, which has no deaths, is at 243 cases (no change from Wednesday) and 224 recovered (up 4). COVID-19 cases continue to climb in bordering Putnam County, which reports a one-day increase of 18 for a total case count of 630, with 492 recovered and 6 deaths as of Thursday, June 18.
Statewide, Tennessee’s total COVID-19 case count is now 32,829 as of June 18, 2020 (up 686) including 509 deaths (up 12) , 2,209 hospitalizations (up 29) and 21,949 recovered (up 667).
