Ryan Blaney Wins Wild Finish at Talladega

NASCAR held the Geico 500 Monday afternoon after Sunday’s was postponed due to weather. This was the second race were fans were allowed to attend with 5,000 spectators in attendance with social distancing guidelines in place. At the beginning of the race Drivers and Team Members stood by the 43 car of Bubba Wallace during the National Anthem showing unity in the NASCAR family. Team Penske was very dominant during the Superspeedway race as all 3 three team cars held the top 3 positions for a majority of the day and leading a combined 96 of 188 laps. The Geico 500 would end up going into overtime where Ryan Blaney held off Erik Jones, Aric Almirola, and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to win his 4th Career victory and 2nd at Talladega. Blaney defeated Stenhouse Jr. by a margin of .007 seconds the same margin that gave Blaney the win in his last Talladega race. This was Blanye’s first win of the season and Team Penske’s 5 win in 2020. The Cup Series will be in Pocono for a double header where the Cup series will race Saturday at 2:30 PM on Fox and Sunday at 3:00 PM on Fox Sports 1.
