Two people were injured in a three-vehicle accident on Highway 70 North in Cumberland County on Thursday. According to Trooper First Class Nicholas Neal shortly before noon, Richard T. Hodgin, age 26, of Crossville, was driving a motorcycle south on Highway 70 North in the 5300 block when he attempted to pass a motorcycle driven by 46-year-old Greg Horn, of Crossville and a Hyundai Accent driven by 73-year-old Henry Levelle, of Pikeville. Hodgin observed oncoming traffic in the northbound lane, swerved back into the southbound lane hitting Horn’s bike. Mr. Horn lost control and left the roadway to the left and came to rest in a ditch on the northbound shoulder. After striking Horn, Mr. Hodgin lost control and struck the Hyundai in the rear end and left the roadway to the right. Mr. Hodgin’s motorcyle struck a tree after leaving the roadway and came to a stop. Both Mr. Horn and Mr. Hodgin were injured. Mr. Levelle reportedly was not injured. Charges are pending against Hodgin.
