Fleeing Vehicle Leaves Behind Trail of Logs In FFG

Nov 7, 2020 | 6:00 AM

It wasn’t hard to track down a fleeing suspect’s vehicle in Fairfield Glade recently because he left behind a trail of logs, debris and damage. According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, a routine traffic stop was initiated after a Deputy noticed that logs were falling off a trailer being pulled by a truck. The vehicle stopped and the driver and passenger got out and approached the patrol car and were instructed to get back in their vehicle. The passenger returned to the truck but the driver was uncooperative. When the driver did return to the truck, he reportedly fled the traffic stop. The logs in the trailer became projectiles that damaged property, created a hazard, impeded traffic and almost hit one woman as she was getting into her car. The driver also did not stop at several intersections and the Deputy terminated due to speed and traffic. However, the suspect vehicle was easily found at a Cherry Branch Road residence by the trail of debris and damage it left behind and witnesses who pointed the way. The passenger was still with the vehicle but the driver had fled on foot through the woods. According to reports, 38-year-old Brandon Wayne Bingaman has been charged with Reckless Driving, Driving on a Revoked/Suspended License, Evading Arrest, Reckless Endangerment and Obstructing a Highway/Passageway.
