A tractor-trailer fire on I-40 Westbound in Roane County Friday morning spread to the nearby woods, causing a 25-acre wildfire near Exit 343. As of 2:30 p.m. CT Friday, the Tennessee Division Of Forestry had the blaze listed as active and zero percent contained. Even with all the rain, firefighters responded to at least 18 wildfires on Thursday alone. Officials are warning everyone to be fire cautious.
Remember, from October 15 through May 15, anyone starting an open-air fire within 500 feet of a forest, grassland, or woodland must by law secure a burning permit from the Division of Forestry.
