A Cookeville man had to be airlifted to UT Knoxville after crashing his vehicle on I-40 in Cumberland County Monday afternoon. It happened around 4pm at the 314 eastbound mile marker. According to Trooper Bobby Barker’s report, 55-year-old Stephen Brown was driving a 1999 Chevy Corvette at a high rate of speed when he lost control. The vehicle went down an embankment, striking several trees. I-40 east was shut down near the scene of the crash so a UT Lifestar helicopter could land. Trooper Barker’s report states charges are pending.
