Accident Injures Truck Driver; Shuts Down Portion Of Hwy 111 In Overton County

A truck driver was injured and a portion of State Route 111 North in Overton County was closed down after a truck hauling logs overturned and spilled its load onto the roadway.  It happened around 9am Monday.  According to Trooper Toby Beaty’s preliminary report, 46-year-old Darren E. Herrod, of Morrison, Tennessee was driving North on Highway 111 when he started to turn his semi-truck right onto West Turkey Creek Road.  A truck hauling logs was traveling behind Mr. Herrod and failed to stop, striking Herrod’s truck in the rear.  The log truck overturned and dumped logs onto the road.  The driver of the log truck, 22-year-old Tristan L. Carter, of Rock Island, Tennessee was taken to the hospital in Cookeville for treatment of his injuries.
