Catalytic Converter Thefts Run Rapid on the Plateau

According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office there have been a string of Catalytic Converter thefts in Cumberland County. Deputies were dispatched to Highway 70 for a theft report. When Deputies arrived the victim stated that someone cut off two Catalytic Converters on two U-Hauls. Value of the Catalytic Converters are listed at $1,200. No suspects have been named in that case.

A Deputy with the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was called by a victim stating he left his car parked on Owl Roost Road between 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM. During that time the Catalytic Converter had been attempted to be cut. The victim stated the Converter was still on the vehicle but was vandalized. The Converter has been valued at $1,000. No suspects have been named.

Deputies were dispatched to Daysville Road for a report of a theft. Upon arrival the Deputies made contact with the home owners. They began to show the Deputy game camera pictures of two males and a female. They were able to identify one of the males as Darren Hamby and the female as Amber Helton due to the victims knowing them personally. The victims took Deputies to the back of the garage where a dead bolt had been busted off with an ax. They discovered a key to a four wheeler laying on the ground and also discovered the Catalytic Converter cut off of a Ford Ranger parked at the back of the residence. Darren Hamby and Amber Helton have been arrested for active warrants and charged with Aggravated Burglary. The other Male Suspect has not been identified nor charged.
