TN Senate Passes Proposal To Remove “Slavery As Punishment” From State Constitution

On Monday, the Tennessee Senate passed a proposal that would let voters decide to remove “slavery and involuntary servitude” as punishment for a crime from the state’s constitution.  The deletion would be replaced in the constitution to specify that nothing would prohibit a convicted inmate from working.
