According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were dispatched to the 317 Mile Marker on the west bound lanes of I-40 for an accident with two vehicles. When Deputies arrived they made contact with Gregory Fitts and the driver of the other vehicle involved. When asked about what had happened, Mr. Fitts stated the whole thing was his fault. Gregory went on to say that he had too many to drink and shouldn’t be driving. After being asked how much Mr. Fitts had consumed, he said 7 or 8 beers. Deputies asked if they could perform a Standardized Field Sobriety Test, he refused saying he was too intoxicated and didn’t want to waste time performing tests. After a check of Gregory’s vehicle deputies located a clear plastic container in a black backpack. In the clear plastic container was a glass mason jar that contained a clear plastic bag of a green leafy substance that weighed approximately 16 grams, two packs of JOB 1.25 rolling papers, a rolling machine, and a round metal grinder with a in yin yang on top. Mr. Fitts was transported to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office for booking and charged with Driving Under the Influence and Simple Possession.
