An Anderson County Sheriff’s Office deputy is hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle over the weekend, WVLT reports. Deputy Stephen Carroll was directing traffic when a vehicle struck him while he was in pursuit of a wanted fugitive. Deputy Carroll was transported to UT Medical Center where he had surgery for a broken leg. The driver of the vehicle was not injured, but the passenger of the vehicle was injured and transported for medical care. Officials say no charges are pending towards the driver.
