A Kentucky woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on I-40 in Putnam County. According to reports, an RV driven by 74-year-old Dwight Bolf, of Miracle, Kentucky, was traveling eastbound on the interstate when the vehicle struck the cable barrier near the 298 mile marker. The RV went across the median and traveled head-on in the westbound lanes, striking two other vehicles. The driver of a 2020 Chrysler LL, 53-year-old Brenda Avery, of Owensboro, Kentucky, was killed. Two passengers in Avery’s vehicle were injured and have been identified as 30-year-old Whitney Winstead, of Newbern, Tennessee, and a 3-year-old, also of Newbern. The driver of a 2017 Ford F150, 39-year-old Joshua Lening, of Columbus, North Carolina, was also injured. The THP says charges are pending the outcome of the crash investigation.
