A Fentress County inmate who escaped last summer has been found dead in Mexico. On Monday the TBI identified him as Charles Kennedy. Last July, the then 35-year-old Kennedy and fellow inmate, 22-year-old Casey Ridenour, reportedly stole a correctional officer’s vehicle. Police chased the vehicle on Highway 127 until it turned onto Delk Street, not far from the Highland Manor Winery. The pair fled on foot sparking a massive manhunt. Ridenour was captured days later. Both men were originally incarcerated on charges out of Roane County. The TBI reportedly received information in November that Kennedy was found dead in Mexico and confirmation of his identity was made last week. (Photo courtesy TBI)
