At least two Sheriff’s Offices in Middle Tennessee are warning the public not to pick up folded money found on the ground or the floor of a business because it could be contaminated with deadly drugs. Perry County Sheriff Nick Weems says his office has had two separate incidents where a folded dollar bill was found on the floor of a gas station that contained a white powdery substance that later tested positive for fentanyl and methamphetamine. Both the Perry County and Gile County Sheriff’s Offices are encouraging people to educate their children not to pick up folded money they may find at a business or playground and to tell an adult about the money immediately. So far, there have been no reports of injuries.
