Within 30 days of Friday’s Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe V. Wade, abortions are set to become illegal in Tennessee except in cases to “prevent death or serious and permanent bodily injury to the mother.”
The law as written does not provide for any exclusions to the ban where the fetus is not viable, such as a fetus without a brain.
Tennessee’s abortion ban also makes it illegal to get an abortion in cases of rape or incest.
Doctors who perform abortions in Tennessee will face prosecution but women seeking them will not.
