GSMNP: 7-Year-Old Girl From Georgia Dies After Tree Falls On Tent At Elkmont Campground

A 7-year-old girl from Georgia was killed early Wednesday morning when a tree fell on her tent at the Elkmont Campground, according to Great Smoky Mountains National Park officals. Rangers say it happened shortly after midnight. The girl was camping with her father and two siblings who not injured. The area near the campsite is closed but the Elkmont Campground remains open.
