TN’s COVID-19 Deaths, Positive Cases Increase Significantly In Past Week

COVID-19 cases increased significantly last week in Cumberland County.  On Saturday, August 20, 2022 the county’s total positive case count was 17,863. That’s up 257 from the previous week.  Cumberland County’s coronavirus death toll remained the same at 335 and there have been no new COVID-19 deaths reported in Cumberland County since July 30, 2022.

Across the state, coronavirus deaths almost doubled from the previous week. Tennessee’s COVID-19 death toll was 27,318 on Saturday, August 20, up 200 from the prior week. Tennessee’s positive case count also increased considerably with 27,904 new cases reported on Saturday, August 20, 2022.  That brings the state positive case count to 2,270,438 – which is the total of positive cases since pandemic reporting began.

As of Monday, August 1st, 2022, the Cumberland County Health Department will be offering SELF-TESTS only for COVID 19.  Self-tests are available Monday – Friday from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm and are in the lobby of the Health Department.  Please call 931-484-6196 if you have questions.
