The Upper Cumberland Development District has been awarded a $35,000 grant to fund a preservation specialist staff position. In a press release, the Tennessee Historical Commission and the State Historic Preservation Office announced 35 Federal Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) grants totaling nearly $900,000 have been awarded for various historic preservation and archaeological projects throughout the state.
Some other grant recipients in our area include a $6,000 grant to continue the restoration of windows on the National Register-listed Clay County Courthouse. In Warren County, The Black House museum will receive $26,928 to fund foundation and window restoration.
The next round of grants is expected to be opened in December 2022 with applications due in January 2023. Check www.tnhistoricalcommission.org for updates.
