Statewide COVID-19 Deaths, New Infections Up Significantly After Thanksgiving

COVID-19 deaths and new cases increased significantly in Tennessee following the Thanksgiving holiday.

Cumberland County recorded another death from coronavirus bringing the death toll to 344 on Saturday, December 3, 2022.  Statewide, 101 coronavirus deaths were reported in a week’s time.  That’s up from 12 deaths in Tennessee the week prior.  Tennessee’s COVID-19 death toll was 28,406 on Saturday, December 3, 2022.

Cumberland County’s positive coronavirus cases more than doubled from the previous week with 68 new cases, bringing the county’s positive COVID-19 case count to 18,950 on December 3, 2022,which reflects the number of positive cases since pandemic reporting began and not current cases.

Statewide, new coronaviruses cases more than doubled the week before.  Tennessee saw 15,198 new infections; compared to 5,202 the week before.  The state’s total positive COVID-19 case count was 2,399,246 on Saturday, December 3, which reflects the number of positive cases since pandemic reporting began and not current cases.
