Avian Influenza Detections Lead to Launch of New Service

Dec 16, 2022 | 3:26 PM

Following a new detection of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) in Tennessee, the Tennessee Department of Agriculture (TDA) is launching a service to keep bird owners informed of health threats to their flocks.

People who have backyard flocks and/or pet birds can sign up to receive email alerts from TDA focused on the health of domesticated birds in Tennessee. Notices may include, but are not limited to, new HPAI detections, changes to movement or sales requirements, and other issues affecting the well-being of domesticated birds.  You can find information on how to enroll online at tn.gov/agriculture and this station’s website.
