It was a tough weekend for the #6 Tennessee Vols and the Lady Vols basketball teams as they faced topped ranked teams from the PAC-12 on the road.
Saturday night the #6 Vols traveled to Arizona to take on the #9 Wildcats. After heading into halftime tied 35-35, Tennessee struggled with foul trouble allowing Arizona to run their offense effectively. #9 Arizona upsets #6 Tennessee with a final of 75-70. Zakai Ziegler led the Vols in scoring putting up 21 points Olivier Nkhamhoua was the second leading scorer with 18 points.
For Arizona the Lithuanian Ąžuolas Tubelis led the scoring with 19 points, the Malian Oumar Ballo was second in scoring with 18 points, the Swede Pelle Larsson had 17 points and the American Courtney Ramsey had 13 points.
Next up for the Vols is their last non-conference game. They’ll return to Rocky Top Wednesday, December 21st to take on the Austin Peay Governors. The Governors vs Volunteers can be heard on 97.7 The Ticket at 4:30 PM

Sunday afternoon it was the Lady Vols playing the #2 Stanford Cardinals in California. Tennessee was holding their own against the talented Cardinals and even led heading into the 4th quarter. However Cameron Brink brought Stanford back to defeat Tennessee 77-70.
Senior Jordan Horston was the top performer for UT (7-6), recording her third double-double of the season with 19 points, 10 rebounds and a season-high tying four steals. Senior Rickea Jackson and sophomore Sara Puckett were also in double figures with 14 and 11, respectively.
Stanford (11-1) was led by Cameron Brink, who finished with 21 points and 17 rebounds. Haley Jones and Hannah Jump were also top scorers, logging 19 each.
The Lady Vols will be back in action on Dec. 27, taking on Wofford in a 6:30 p.m. ET matchup that will be streamed on SECN+.
