The Tennessee Lady Volunteers welcomed the Georgia Bulldogs to town as Tennessee was looking to stay perfect in SEC play. Tennessee wore special Summitt Blue uniforms Sunday for the first time in the modern era. After a hot start in both the 1st and 3rd quarter the Lady Vols went on to defeat the Bulldogs 68-55. Tennessee’s record moves to 14-6 and a perfect 6-0 in SEC play.
Rickea Jackson once again came off the bench and led the Lady Vols in scoring putting up 23 points. Right behind Jackson was Tess Darby shooting 40% from the 3-Point line. Darby was able to score 16 points on the Bulldog defense. There wasn’t much scoring from the Georgia side. The Bulldogs went 0-14 from the 3-Point line with the leading scorers Brittney Smith putting up 14 points and Diamond Battles scoring 12 points.
The Lady Vols will have a rematch with Florida on Thursday, hosting the Gators in a 5:30 p.m. contest that will be heard on MIX 99.3. The game is Tennessee’s annual We Back Pat event.
