The pilot of a small aircraft is okay after making an emergency landing Saturday afternoon on I-40 East in Knox County. The pilot, Dale Grubbs, said his engine failed during a routine flight. TDOT reported the plane landed at Papermill Drive with no significant injury. The pilot managed to avoid other vehicles but did scrape the wall near the interstate. That section of the I-40 was blocked for sometime until the FAA gave clearance to remove the plane. There was no immediate word on what caused the engine to fail.
