A Crossville man faces a slew of charges after he allegedly ran through the gate and fence at Centennial Park Sunday afternoon (2/5/2023) and then struck two patrol cars while fleeing from officers.  Police captured 21-year-old Alexander Gregory Rice in the area of Highway 68 and Sawmill Road as Rice attempted to escape on foot.  Police say two passengers had been inside of the vehicle involved in the pursuit.  One of the passengers, a 19-year-old woman, had facial trauma that did not appear to be the result of a traffic accident.  Police say statements were made about the female being assaulted and possibly kidnapped.  The investigation of her injuries was taken over by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.  Damage to the gate and fence at Centennial Park was estimated at $1,000.   Alexander Gregory Rice was charged with Leaving The Scene Of An Accident, Failure to Report A Vehicle Accident, Reckless Driving, Evading Arrest and Resisting, Stop, Halt, Frisk, Arrest or Search.  Rice was also issued multiple City citations for traffic violations.  He was also charged by the Tennessee Highway Patrol in relation to the pursuit and crash.  Additionally, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office has charged Mr. Rice with Aggravated Assault.
