Armed Robbery Leads To Arrests In Putnam County

An armed robbery in Putnam County over the weekend led to the arrest of two suspects.  According to a Press Release, On Sunday March 5, 2023, Deputies responded to an address on Hanging Limb Highway, located in Monterey, TN regarding an Aggravated Armed Robbery. Three victims were inside the residence when two masked men shattered the glass door and entered the home brandishing a pistol. The victims were robbed of cash, jewelry, electronics, and clothing. One of the victims recognized the gunman’s voice as his friend, Maikel Renteria. A BOLO was issued for the suspect vehicle, a white Chevy Camaro bearing a temporary tag. Deputy D.J. Sons observed the vehicle on I-40 and conducted a high-risk traffic stop. The driver was found to be 22-year-old Maikel Dajhon Renteria of Clarksville, TN. His accomplice was identified as a 16-year-old juvenile, also from Clarksville. The victim’s property was recovered from the vehicle, along with a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun.

Detective Sergeant Adrienne McCurry arrested and charged Renteria with 3 counts of Aggravated Armed Robbery. Renteria has a bond of $301,500 and a court date set for April 3, 2023. The juvenile was also arrested and charged with Aggravated Armed Robbery. He is currently being held at Juvenile
