The #17 Tennessee Vols are looking to defend their SEC Tournament championship as they compete in the second round of the SEC Tournament against the Ole Miss Rebels on Thursday. Tennessee has never won back-to-back tournament championships and they took one step closer of erasing that statistic as the Volunteers defeat the Rebels with a final score of 70-55 at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
Josiah-Jordan James was the leader of the Vols in scoring putting up 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 2 assists. Santiago Vescovi was the second leading scorer for Tennessee after scoring 16 points. For Mississippi Myles Burns leadin the scoring with 14 points. While two players tied for the second leading scorer as Matthew Murrell and Jaemyn Brakefield both scored 12 a piece.
Next for Tennessee is the Quarterfinals as they have a rematch with the Missouri Tigers. Tennessee and Mizzou last met back in February where the Tigers defeated the Vols off of a buzzer beater.
