Light Law Violation Leads To Arrest Of Man Wanted In Georgia, Virginia, Tennessee And South Carolina

A traffic violation in White County has resulted in the arrest of a man wanted in four states.  According to a report from the White County Sheriff’s Office, on Thursday, March 23, 2023 at approximately 10 a.m., Sergeant Dodson was on routine patrol in the Doyle area when he observed a Mitsubishi Galant with a light law violation. Seargent Dodson conducted a traffic stop and recognized the passenger, Eddie Cornelius Simmons, to be a subject who had felony warrants out of Tennessee and Federal Warrants out of Virginia for the United States Marshall Service. It was discovered that Simmons also had felony warrants out of South Carolina and Georgia.  Mr. Simmons was placed under arrest and a search of his person revealed a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine, 1 glass pipe with a burnt residue, and 5 hypodermic syringes. Mr. Simmons was transported to the White County Jail where he was  booked and charged with:

Fugitive from justice

Felony Possession of Methamphetamine

Possession of drug paraphernalia

Simmons is awaiting a court date and his bond is set at $100,000 and holds have been placed by other agencies.
