Three children and three adults were killed in a shooting Monday morning at a private Christian school in Nashville.  The adult shooter also died.

The Metro Nashville Police Department identified the victims as:

Evelyn Dieckhaus, age 9

Hallie Scruggs, age 9

William Kinney age 9

Cynthia Peak, age 61

Katherine Koonce, age 60

Mike Hill, age 61

Police identified the shooter as 28-year-old Audrey Hale, of Nashville, who is also deceased.

Authorities say Hale was armed with two assault rifles and a handgun and entered The Covenant School by firing into a side door.  Hale fired deadly shots for about 14 minutes.  Police found Hale on the second floor of the school and engaged in gunfire. Hale was shot and later pronounced dead.

Hale’s motive remains unclear. Police say Hale was a former student at The Covenant School.  Hale, who identified as a trans-gender woman, reportedly had detailed maps of the school and had written a manifesto.  Police also say Hale had scouted out another school in the area before she attacked The Covenant School.
