Tennessee has set a Special Election date of August 3rd to fill the seats of two Democratic State Representatives who were expelled for violating House rules when they protested against gun violence on the House Floor. The protest came after a mass shooting at a Christian school in Nashville claimed the lives of three 9-year-old students and three adults. Both Justin Jones and Justin Pearson were voted right back in by their legislative bodies to fill their seats in the interim. The Special Election qualifying deadline is noon May 4. The Primary date is June 15. Representative Justin J. Pearson, of Memphis, plans to run again for House District 86. Representative Justin Jones, of Nashville, said he will run again for House District 52. The winners of the Special Elections will serve the remainder of the current House term.
