The Crossville City Council, in special session on Thursday, voted to rescind action taken in the regular April meeting that moved the city a step closer to issuing bonds for a potential indoor recreation facility. Council approved the motion by Mayor RJ Crawford to repeal that action in a unanimous vote. In making his motion, Mayor Crawford noted that the previous action did not obligate the city and was not a final decision on the matter. Crawford also said that he would support a full referendum on any property tax increase that might be required to fund the facility. Following the vote, several residents spoke to express their opposition to the facility, while others were in favor as long as it could be funded without a property tax increase.
