On its Facebook Page, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office asks the community to join them in welcoming recently hired Deputy Mike Wilcox. Deputy Wilcox is a highly skilled law enforcement professional. He started the cadet academy with the Colorado Springs Police Department and at age 17 he joined the Air Force where he became a dog handler. Deputy Wilcox’s expertise in handling dogs was further honed when he worked with bomb dogs as a civilian in Iraq and Afghanistan for the US and Canadian military. He also did an explosive detection dog contract in Washington DC on a Saudi Arabian diplomatic contingent. The Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Wilcox’s dedication to his craft and his unique life experiences make him a valuable addition to the team.
