A Crossville woman has fallen victim to a food stamp scam. The woman told police that a little over a month ago, she received an automated call that said she needed to enter her food stamp card number and PIN or else her account would be frozen. The woman did and later noticed that her food stamp card had been charged at the Smart Shop Deli in Brooklyn, New York. Police found that the deli does have a physical address but could not find a phone number for it. If you ever get a call to verify your information on anything, don’t answer, hang up, look up the number for the business or government entity and call them directly.
