A Fentress County couple is grateful to be alive after a tornado last Sunday destroyed their home. As the storm approached, Carol Crabtree was on her porch when she saw a garage tossed across the yard. Mrs. Crabtree said she did not hear any wind. She only saw dark clouds. That’s when she rushed into the house to alert her husband Rick. She had just stepped foot inside the home when the tornado started tearing away at the porches and roof. Mr. Crabtree was in the shower when the house started to shake. It was over in less than half a minute. Fortunately the couple was not injured and they plan to rebuild.
