TN National Guard Rescues Hiker At GSMNP

The Tennessee National Guard responded to an injured hiker call around 7 o’clock Friday night at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  WVLT reports the hiker, who was suffering head trauma, was near Inspiration Point along the Alum Cave trail and needed immediate evacuation.  The hiker was loaded on a stretcher, hoisted into the Blackhawk helicopter and flown to UT Medical Center. The rescue took less than an hour and a half, WVLT reports.  The hiker’s name and condition were not immediately released.
