Crossville Fire Department investigating a rash of morning fires

The Crossville Fire Department along with the Crossville Police Department are investigating this morning’s (8/1/2023) fires that destroyed at least one building at the Methodist Campground on Old Jamestown Highway. Firefighters were first called to reports of smoke coming from under the bridge on Main Street near Charleston Place around 2 a.m. Later, around 3 a.m., firefighters were called to the same area to find debris and brush on fire. The fire call sounded again at around 4:30 a.m. for reports of a building ablaze at the Methodist Campground on Old Jamestown Highway.  A suspect was taken into custody.
