One Dead After Hwy 111 Shooting In Sparta

One person is dead following a shooting Monday morning in Sparta.  Around 8am, three men were traveling on Highway 111 when a passenger in the vehicle reportedly began shooting a firearm at another passenger. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries and managed to run away from the area.  As authorities arrived on the scene, the alleged shooter, identified as 63-year-old Javier Lopez Carmona, was observed raising a gun to his head and firing a shot. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.  The investigation is ongoing.
