Stone Memorial High School Basketball is warning Panther fans about a sponsorship scam. Per a post on the Stone Memorial Basketball Facebook page, “a company has reached out to several local businesses soliciting on behalf of SMHS Basketball for sponsorships. This is NOT affiliated with SMHS Basketball Boosters or SMHS. Do NOT give them money, those funds DO NOT come back to the school or the athletic programs.
Be alert!! At one local business they were looking for t-shirt and banner sponsors and they introduced themselves as the SMHS Project Coordinator for Basketball.” Stone Memorial does not have a project coordinator. Also, SMHS Basketball will not ask for your credit card information. If you are asked for credit card information to secure your sponsorship, beware! Stone Memorial Basketball says they “LOVE [their] sponsors and want to help you protect yourself and your business! If you ever have concerns DM Stone Memorial Basketball, ask a player parent that you know or call the SMHS Athletic Director.
