The owner of an RV surprised a crook who tried to steal a catalytic converter while the man and his wife were inside the camper. It happened around 2am Monday (10/9/2023). Crossville Police were dispatched to Best One Tire on Genesis Road where the RV was parked for repairs. The man told police he heard a loud noise and felt a vibration coming from outside. He got up to investigate and saw a male subject running to a car parked at the bus garage. He started the RV up, heard a loud noise and went outside where he discovered a battery powered sawzall underneath the vehicle. The catalytic converter was hanging from the RV. Damage was estimated at $1,200. The thief was not apprehended at the time of the report.
