The Cumberland County Commission moves forward with building codes

Nov 21, 2023 | 11:02 AM

The Cumberland County Commission, in regular session on Monday, approved a resolution adopting county building codes. The county will be taking over building inspections for new construction outside the city limits of Crossville beginning January 1st. The County Codes Department will also not conduct inspections inside the Pleasant Hill city limits.  Both Crossville and Pleasant Hill have their own codes departments. Commissioners voted to adopt the 2018 edition of the International Residential Code with some exceptions to follow the 2009 version.  Agricultural buildings as well as accessory buildings, garages and decks that are not part of a new residential construction are exempt from inspection.
