It was a rematch from a year ago as Ohio State visited Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Lady Volunteers. Ohio State came into the contest ranked #16 with one loss and five wins. The Lady Vols started Sunday’s game 4-3 with a ranking of 20th and hoping to bounce back after a disappointing loss to Notre Dame. However that wouldn’t be the case as Ohio State’s defense was too much for the Lady Vols. The Buckeyes defeated Tennessee with a final score of 78-58. Ohio State improves to 6-1 while Tennessee falls to 4-4 on the season.
Tennessee’s leading scorer was Destinee Wells who came off the bench and scored 11 points. Sara Puckett was able to score 10 points for the Lady Vols. There was a plethora of scoring from many Buckeyes. Leading OSU was Cotie McMahon with 19 points. The Slovakia native Rebeka Mikulasikova was behind Cotie with 18 points. Celeste Taylor and Jacy Sheldon rounded out the scoring with 15 and 13 points respectively.
The next time the Lady Vols will be in action will be a neutral site contest against instate foe the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders. Tipoff for that game is scheduled for Wednesday December 6th at 6:30 PM.
