VEC Asking Customers to Conserve Energy During Extreme Cold Temperatures

Jan 15, 2024 | 9:36 PM

Volunteer Energy Cooperative is asking customers to reduce electrical usage during this severe cold snap.   VEC said while it does “not anticipate the need for rolling blackouts, the extremely low temperatures will have an impact on the VEC electric grid.”  In an effort to maintain stable operation, VEC is asking all members to help by minimizing electrical usage as much as possible during this time.  VEC suggests setting back your thermostats to a level that is both comfortable and as low as possible. Try to use clothes washers/dryers and dishwashers sparingly, and only during the middle of the day if necessary.  VEC also asks that you avoid using any non-essential electrical equipment until the temperatures have increased to normal levels.
