Crossville Police were dispatched to an attempted burglary in progress Tuesday night on Lee June Street. The resident told police that about 8:30pm their dog was barking like crazy so they opened the door to check on the dog and saw a man standing by the front porch. The resident quickly shut the door and locked it. The male subject was wearing dark colored pants and shoes. It was later discovered that the dog had a cut and was bleeding on the right side of its cheek just below the eye where the intruder had hit it. The report did not state if anything was taken.
