A Crossville man faces numerous charges after allegedly leading City and County officers on a high speed chase and striking 3 patrol vehicles. Thursday afternoon (3/7/2024) Crossville Police received calls about a man, later identified as 43-year-old Adam Rhea Berrier, driving a silver minivan who was stopped in the middle of South Main Street and screaming at people. He reportedly almost caused several accidents.
A Cumberland County Sheriff’s Deputy saw the suspect’s vehicle traveling at an extremely high rate of speed outbound on Lantana Road and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Berrier reportedly sped up to about 80 miles per hour, passing on double yellow and running other motorists off the road. The report states Berrier turned onto Lantana Drive and back onto Lantana Road exceeding 90 miles per hour, flipping his middle finger out of the window and driving even more erratic as he headed back toward town. Deputies deployed spike strips twice, flattening the tires. Reports say Berrier intentionally swerved and struck two County cruisers and one City patrol vehicle.
The minivan was finally forced off the road where Berrier was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle revealed an almost empty bottle of Canadian Whiskey.
Adam Berrier has been charged with Aggravated Assault; Felony Reckless Endangerment-Vehicle; Evading Arrest, Driving on a Revoked/Suspended License; Driving Under the Influence and Resisting Arrest. (Photo courtesy CCSO – Adam Berrier)
