The Cookeville Police Department is investigating a shooting death that occurred early Monday morning in the parking lot of a strip mall. According to a press release, on Monday, March 11, 2024, at approximately 2:37am the Cookeville Police Department responded to 586 South Jefferson Avenue in reference to a shooting. On arrival, officers located 36-year-old Christopher Posey of Maryland deceased. Posey suffered injuries consistent with an apparent gunshot wound.
Detectives with the Cookeville Police Department responded to the scene and took over the investigation. At this time, investigators believe that all involved parties were located and to maintain the integrity of the investigation, their identities are currently being withheld. Authorities say this was an isolated incident and they have no reason to believe that the public is in any danger.
