The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA), in partnership with Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is conducting a silver carp reward tag project on Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley.
Anglers who catch silver carp with either a tag or an upper jaw band can earn money. TWRA says all tags and bands for this project are reward tags with a value of $100.
So if you catch a silver carp, keep the fish and the tag, and call or text the number on the tag to contact the TWRA. Then you will be prompted to provide your contact information and how and where you caught the fish. You will also have to take a photo of the reward tag.
Even if you don’t catch a reward fish, the TWRA is asking everyone who catches any invasive carp in East Tennessee or other water where invasive carp are not known to be established, to put it on ice or freeze it and contact them immediately. If you can’t keep the fish, please take photos of the fish and send the image to TWRA including information on location of capture.
