A motorcyclist was killed in a crash Sunday (3/31/2024) on I-40 in Cumberland County. It happened around 9am near the 336 westbound mile marker.
The deceased has been identified as 59-year-old Ronald Eugene Buechler.
According to the THP, Mr. Buechler was riding a 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle west in the right lane when traffic ahead began to slow quickly. The motorcyclist was in the process of slowing down when he was struck from behind by a 2017 Kia Forte driven by 29-year-old Charles Baldwin Ingram. The report states Mr. Ingram was distracted by a young child in the vehicle and did not slow down quickly enough, striking the motorcycle. Mr. Buechler was thrown off his Harley by the impact and then was struck by the Kia. Mr. Buechler died from his injuries. No one in the Kia was injured.
According to the THP, no charges are pending.
