The Tennessee Highway Patrol and the Tennessee Department of Transportation are reminding motorists to drive with caution and common sense during the eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024.
TDOT is reminding motorists to turn their headlights on during the eclipse, just as they would when driving at night.
The THP is telling motorists not to pull over on shoulders or emergency lanes to watch the celestial event. Drivers should always be watching the road. If you want to watch the eclipse, get off all roadways and pull over at a rest area or welcome center.
Both TDOT and the THP will be closely monitoring roads across the state during Monday’s eclipse.
