Competitive eater Joey Chestnut won the 2024 Ultimate Bologna Showdown in Knoxville on Saturday, devouring 14 pounds of bologna in 8 minutes. Chestnut was the favorite going into the competition with 16 “Mustard Belts” from Nathan’s hotdog eating competition.
The event, presented by Dead End BBQ and Elm Hill Bologna, was shown live on WVLT and also featured Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs, known to WWE fans as “Kane”. Mayor Jacobs didn’t have a chance as he faced off against some of the best competitive eaters in the world, all vying for their share of a $10,000 purse.
James Webb came in 2nd gobbling down 11 pounds of bologna, and Geoffrey Esper was 3rd with 10 ¾ pounds.
But anyway you slice it, no one came close to eating more bologna than Joey Chestnut, who claimed the coveted Ultimate Bologna Showdown belt, bragging rights and $5,000.
