During the regular session of the Crossville City Council on Tuesday, council members approved a 7 percent hike in water rates. The increase comes after a study by MTAS (Municipal Technical Advisory Service) recommending an increase due to a deficit between operating costs and revenue. According to Crossville Finance Director Nathan Clouse, MTAS estimated an increase in expenses at 5 percent while water income was estimated at 2.5 percent. The increase will raise the minimum bill to $11.43 for customers within the city limits and for customers outside the city limits the minimum bill will be $17.16. The last increase was in 2017.
